Moving schedule to new computer loses some settings

Post by Juggledad »

Background
----------
We build our SongBeamer on one computer and display it using a second computer. We also run two separate services, a traditional service and a Contemporary service

At the Traditional service we display a background of the cross and during the sermon we display the scripture readings on a colored background.

During the Contemporary service, anything goes (to an extent).

We discovered that we need to have two separate schedules for the two services.

Process
-------
We started by editing the Options/Folders to look for songs and backgrounds at the Songbeamer level. We then add two new folders into /My Documents/SongBeamer called yymmdd_Traditional and yymmdd_Contemporary.

Next we copy the songs we will use into those folders and copy the sermon song (to display the sermon and sermon notes, we create a tsermon.sng and a csermon.sng for display - we've found the displaying is much faster and versatile that using powerpoint viewer)

We also copy in all the backgrounds into those folders and any video presentation we might use.

All Background fonts choices and brightness adjustments are made.

Once we are done, we move the folders (which contain all the backgrounds, songs and the schedule) to a flash drive and move to the 'projection' computer

The Problem
-----------
Once we move the folders to the My Documents/SongBeamer folder and run SongBeamer, we have discovered that the Font color chosen for text1 on the background defaults to white and if we have used the slider to adjust the opacity of the image, that setting is lost. It looks like those settings are not part of the 'schedule'.

The function you're probably looking for is File->Export Schedule (or Import Schedule). This will pack all songs in the schedule including the backgrounds images and color values into a zip file.

If you want to copy all settings including those in the options dialog, then you can copy the config files in the Application Data folder. This is typically:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\SongBeamer

Excellent!! This is exactly what we need, avoids the problem and is very easy and quick to do!

I love it when the problem is solved before it occurs (grin)

Thanks for the quick response
